About AbleGamers.com
AbleGamers.com is a labor of love. It has two main missions.
Our First Mission
We
are here to create a safe space for gamers with disabilities to be able
to find the game that is right for them. Why do we think that this is
important, it is simple, MMORPG’s allow people with disabilities to
interact with the world in ways they may not be able to do in real
life. In a MMORPG you can run, jump and fight to the death regardless
of any physical limitations you may have. MMORPG’s are a window to the
world, a space where everyone is bound by the same rules.
Our Second Mission
We
want to help the gaming industry develop in ways that helps the
disabled gamer. Our goal is not to limit games but to expand them, as
games develop knowing the challenges that face disabled gamers everyone
wins, games become more flexible to peoples playing styles and more
inclusive, in short it builds a richer community.
Who we are
AbleGamers.com
makes no money what-so-ever. Not because we would not like to make
something (to at least pay for the time and hosting), we just don’t
make any. We are at this point a labor of love.
AbleGamers.com
is run by Mark Barlet, a Disabled Veteran and avid gamer. He also looks
to his best friend for almost 20 years for guidance “Camilya” who 7
years ago was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, for direction. Camilya is also an avid gamer (Until the baby that is) and helps in the reviews and the research.
Reviews
We
are always seeking hardware to review (hint hint), we will be more than
happy to send the hardware back to you, but would rather give it away
on the site to members. If you have a piece of hardware you would like
us to review, click here and I will send you the address (Because we send it to different people depending on the hardware)
Beta’s
We
are always looking beta invites for our members. We WANT to give you
feedback, we want to help you make for a better game. We do ask that
you please give us a contact within your group to give feedback to
directly on playability for the handicap. If you have invites you want
to give us, click here and let us know what we can do.
