Well in case you did not hear, I got all the way to San Fran
and discovered that I had (again) forgotten underwear. I always forget
something, but worry not: there was a "Ross - Dress for Less" a few blocks from
the hotel, and underwear was on sale!
Today is kind of an arrival day. There are people all over
the place getting badges and all the fun stuff that comes along with GDC. They
expect 16,000+ people here this year, so that is a many planeloads of
people.
Other things we have done... We rode a cable car, it was cold and loud. On an odd note, as we were walking to get some food we saw a pink thong on the sidewalk. On our way back from said meal we found the thong again, this time it was being kicked down the street by a well-dressed gent. It was a sight. "Kick the Thong" must be a west coast game. :P
We did get to speak to a few people. Monday was all about
mobile gaming, something that I am not sure is a priority for AbleGamers, but
there were some cool things to look at. One of the more interesting things we
saw was the Zeemote, a Bluetooth-enabled remote control for your phone. We
spoke to Kristen McNeely-Shaw (below), Software Engineer for the Zeemote. In its
current form, we are not sure there is a real AG angle as of yet, but Kristen
did see how a one-handed controller could be very useful for all people. She
asked us some great questions and wants to explore what AbleGamers is about and
how an AG would use such a device. We have a few images below. More to come, we
are on the prowl for a few people to interview.
