Sony's CEO Howard Stringer has done an interview with the Hollywood Reporter and it looks like the PlayStation 3 price drop is part of Sony's push to win the next generation format wars. In an interview that was really about the Blu-ray vs HD-DVD Mr. Stringer made it clear that the recent price drop in the PS3 was a boon for those that want a Blu-ray. For the record, I am all for the one that sends me a player to review first.
"We haven't announced any price cuts yet, but obviously the PS3 at $399 was a price cut, and that's also a Blu-ray player," he said. "We're comfortable with the situation at the moment."
The interview goes on to state that the PS3 sales are on a curve that matches the PS2.
It is a good read, so go and read it .
